Near Pavilions

A collaboration between garden designer Anne Kennedy

and Daniel Phillips at PATIO.

This garden was designed around a pair of interlocking, modular pavilions, one at ground level, the other elevated on stilts. Designed for various outdoor living activities ­ lounging, cooking, chatting, dreaming - platforms lead one to another, wrapping into small squares secluded by dense planting. Screening by use of sailcloth, glass and water creates private spaces.

A sea of dwarf pines floats alongside the pavilions, in contrast to rising, screening bamboos and hovering grasses. The bespoke ‘water wall’ creates a moving screen or backdrop along one side of the pavilion. All the metal products were supplied specifically by PATIO, and are available on their web site, www.patio.ie. This modular garden can be designed to suit any space, yard or woodland clearing, small or large.
